In the Noordoostpolder, the Netherlands, a new recreational area for swimming, cycling and walking is being developed. Two landmark bridges will be placed in this area, with lengths of respectively 30 and 20 meter. MOCS covered the structural design and analysis of these unique composite bridges.
Each bridge consists of three separate deck parts, where each part is a sandwich structure produced using one-shot vacuum infusion. The most challenging feature of the bridge is the hinged joint between the deck parts, which has been designed and analysed by MOCS using advanced engineering methods.
