Structural Analysis of Lower Bearing for FPSO Internal Turret System

Assisting in the development of a very large internal turret system for a FPSO, MOCS performed a structural analysis of the lower bearing system. The structural integrity of the lower bearing was analysed by means of Finite Element Modelling. A global model was used to determine the circumferential stiffness of the casing and the bearing pressure on the highest loaded bearing block. To determine the stresses in the bearing blocks, detailed sub-models were made and coupled to the global model.
