Impact Testing of FRP Bridge Decks

A bridge deck design of MOCS was tested at TNO by an 1000kg impactor released from 0.5m height. The impactor was dropped on different parts of decks with different core designs. This resulted in both damaged and undamaged parts. The data was used to optimize the design for impact resistance. TNO used the data to model the impact damage. The deck was produced by Schaap Composites, partner in “Groot Composiet” who granted subsidy for the research.
