Feasibility Study for a Hybrid Bridge in Sierra Leone

In cooperation with Sierra Land Development, MOCS performed a feasibility study on the realisation of a 120 meter long bridge in Sierra Leone. The bridge allows for improved accessibility of a rapidly growing agricultural area in Sierra Leone, which is at this moment dependent on a very basic ferry over the Rokel River.

The feasibility study resulted in the design of an innovative hybrid bridge, consisting of an effective combination of composites, steel and concrete. The smart design allows for a low-tech production process, which can be carried out in the vicinity of the bridge itself, which was necessary due to accessibility issues. Local resources will be used to realize the project, adding as much knowledge and value as possible to the community in Sierra Leone.
