Fatigue Lifetime Extension of FPSO Topsides

For a worldwide player in the Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) business MOCS has performed the Fatigue Lifetime Extension Study for the structure of the topside modules of one of its vessels.

This steel structure spans roughly 140 by 20 by 15 meter and is subjected to fatigue loads due to the constant movement of the ship and deformation of the deck. By coupling global and local finite element models the analysis of the complete structure including all the weld details could be done highly efficient with a relatively compact project team using DNV standards.
